What the UTV Driver course covers
- Between 5.5 to 7 hours, with the greatest emphasis on operational skills
- Safe winching practices, plus truck and trailer loading and unloading
- Body position, hazard avoidance, emergency stopping, and traversing obstacles
- Machine function, proper driving techniques, and operator awareness, we also cover common on site experiences so you are more prepared
- Nationally recognized Canada Safety Council UTV Driver program
Built for commercial crews who move people and tools in side-by-sides on leases, corridors, and staging routes.
Training grounds
Then onto the training course.
Hands-on time at our Whitecourt location imitates real-world working conditions, with mud, hills, side slopes, and the challenges operators face in the field.
- Diverse terrain that matches Alberta field work
- Instructor-guided practical training and trail experience
- Over 5 km of trails and a dedicated training area
Equipment
Bring a side-by-side, or rent one.
Each student must have their own UTV. Learning on the unit they will use in the field is best.
Own machine
Students are encouraged to train on their own mechanically sound UTV and appropriate gear.
Course rentals
If a student does not have a machine, we can supply Can-Am UTV rentals at discounted daily rates for course participants.
Tickets for site
Often required before employees or subcontractors operate side-by-sides on commercial job sites.

How long is the course?
About 5.5 to 7 hours, combining classroom instruction with practical driving skills on the training grounds or at your site.
Do we need to bring UTV's?
Yes. Each student needs a UTV / side-by-side. If they do not have one available, ask about discounted daily rentals for course participants.
Is this the same as ATV Rider training?
No. UTV Driver training is the Canada Safety Council program for side-by-sides. Book ATV Rider when operators will run quads.
Can we train at our location?
Yes. On-site training is available, but when crews can travel we're able to offer better training at out location.
